Question by sammycamera49: does the Nikon D90 DSLR have a black and white shooting mode?
I’m looking to buy a Nikon D90 DSLR in a couple of days, and the only question i have about it is weather of not there is a shooting mode on the camera for black and white. i know that i can change pictures from color to black and white on photoshop afterwards, but i would love to have a shooting mode on the actual camera, and was wondering if anyone knew anything about that.

Thanks!

It does, but better, on page 214 there is an explanation of the cameras retouch menu where you can create retouched copies of the images you take without having to use a computer.

In the monochrome area, you can create black and white, sepia and cyanotype copies. This will preserve the original RGB image file for use later

Question by Caroline: Do Canon or Nikon DSLR lenses work with an Olympus E500 series camera body?
I have an Olympus E-510 body (the kit… ugh) and it’s working out pretty well for me, I love the feel of the body and it’s just about right for me. There isn’t as much selection among Zuiko lenses as one might hope, so I am wondering if Canon or Nikon lenses can be compatible with my Olympus?

No they will not.

That is why it is so important to do the research before you decide on a camera system. In fact, none of the older Olympus lenses will work on the new 4/3rds Olympus DSLR bodies. You will be buying the 4/3rds Zuiko or leica lenses for your camera from now on.

This is one thing the sales people neglect to tell buyers of DSLR’s is that of all the DSLR’s on the market, Nikon has the most lenses available for all but their entry level DSLR’s since 1959, Canon is next with all the lenses made since 1988 available for their EOS DSLR’s and Pentax can still use all their K-mount lenses on their DSLR’s There can be a bit of an issue figuring out which of the old Minolta auto-focus lenses will work 100% on the Sony DSLR’s

Actually I have not heard that any of the fine Olympus lenses are anything but excellent glass.
